Waterfall Blouse by Make it Perfect

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums out there! And a special mention to all the women trying to become mums or mums that have lost their precious little ones, I’m thinking of you xx As a Mother’s Day gift I bought myself the Pattern Workshop course from Lauren Dahl. It has been on my wish list for a while now. Obviously, I love to sew but I’ve wanted to better understand the process of creating patterns. There are have a many times that I’ve wanted to hack a pattern or create my own from scratch and I just haven’t really…

Staple Dress Number 3!

I have literally worn my other staple dresses out! It was time for another. I made this one a while back but haven’t had a chance to write about it and take a few photos. Just like I’ve said in previous Staple Dress posts, this dress is so easy! Really, insanely simple! It takes a few hours to whip up, the perfect beginner project. Even though it’s easy, I still feel a sense of satisfaction afterwards. It looks like a dress you’d pay a bit of money for in a shop! For those who haven’t made this dress, it’s simply…

DIY: Craft Pegboard

This project has been on my list of things to do forever! I’ve been drooling over Pinterest for months now. I was always a bit apprehensive though because it looks like a bit of work and to be honest, I don’t like my chances at keeping it looking so great. I happened to mention it to mum and she then decided that it would be my belated birthday present, something we could work on together. So off to Bunnings we went. For those that know me, my husband and I aren’t the handiest of folk, so we had plenty to…

Exciting News!

Before I get to my news, I have to apologise! The site was down for a couple of days whilst I fumbled around trying to change my Blogger domain to a .com one. I thought it would be easy enough. So far with blogging I’ve been able to learn how to do things, like starting a blog, making graphics, adding buttons etc. To be honest, I completely struggled with this task.   Luckily for me, my parents were staying and I recruited my Dad. He’s a computer genius *nerd* but he’s always worked with programming not so much building websites.…

Rainbow Colour Game for Toddlers

I have recently been looking for games and activities for toddlers. Sylvie has reached that age where she’s wanting to play a lot more. I noticed that she was really interested in colours. I had a look around and found a similar game with plenty of colour and loose parts. I couldn’t find where to get it so I thought I’d make one! It is so simple to whip up with basic sewing skills, really you only need to be able to do a straight stitch! I purchased the small parts from Spotlight but you could use anything from around…

Hello 2015….a bit of planning….

Hello 2015! I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year! We did, busy but lovely. So, I’ve been a little absent from here. Life has been crazy! We’ve moved interstate, and I’ve gone back to work and it all happened around the craziness of the end of the year. We are back in country Victoria and loving the quietness and slower pace of life. And now that we’ve settled and I’ve unpacked most things, I can share here again! I have managed to sew, if only a little so I do have some things to show. All…

The Caroline Party Dress by Mouse House Creations

I actually sewed this dress up for Sylvie’s first birthday (oh my baby girl is growing), which was 3 weeks ago! It’s taken me that long to blog about it. Oh well, life goes on! I had decided I wanted a bit of a vintage theme to the birthday party and headed to the local fabric shop to have a look. I was blown away with the Tilda range they stocked. It was exactly what I was after. Don’t you just love that? It doesn’t happen often but when it does, I’m always stoked! After playing around for a while,…

DIY Harem Pants Tutorial 3-6M

Today I’m sharing a tutorial for Harem Pants (3-6M). A while ago my sister in law was after some harem pants for her new squishy baby Rory. I said I’d make them for him and went looking for tutorials and patterns. I was surprised that I couldn’t really find what I wanted. I’m sure there are some out there, I couldn’t seem to find them. So what does one do when they can’t find exactly whats needed, you make it up! I drew up a rough template and made a test one and then readjusted it until I ended up…

The Waterfall Tank by Sew Caroline

I had such a massive June with pattern testing! Here is the final one, The Waterfall Tank by SewCaroline. It’s taken me a while to get the post up (yes, we have been unwell and I just couldn’t even think of blogging! I really need to organise myself better!) but better late than never! When I first saw the pattern I was really unsure, I didn’t think the ruffle bit would look very good with larger busts. I decided to try it anyways and I was so surprised! I think it’s turned out great! I did use a quilting cotton…

Uptown Girl Jacket by Make it Perfect

I think Make it Perfect has been the pattern company that I’ve used the most, it was definitely what got me started making clothes for myself. I have mentioned it a few time but I love my Coastal Breeze dresses (here and here)! A couple of years ago I made this Uptown Girl jacket for my niece and lucky enough, it’s now a hand-me-down for Sylvie. Scored! When I made it up I was so happy with the results. I looks quite complicated but it’s not really. I would say it’s for an intermediate level. I remember thinking how cool…
